LPFA
Streamside Adventures

The LPFA likes to think of ourselves as the forest care people. Join us. Getting involved with land and people is an experience not soon forgotten. LPFA volunteers participate in fun and meaningful ways in forest activities while building deepened appreciation for the forest. One can develop an understanding for wilderness, the multiple use philosophy, natural sciences and human history. We offer outdoor activities that build character and confidence. And we give back, by helping build an informed and involved citizenry for Los Padres National Forest. Whatever your passion, be a part of this vital effort by joining The Los Padres Forest Association (LPFA) today.

The LPFA is a nonprofit, volunteer organization working to conserve, maintain, enhance and protect Los Padres National Forest. As an official partner to the USDA Forest Service, LPFA engages the public in supporting the forest through a variety of activities, programs, special events and publications.

FOREST CARE
LPFAs cadre of field volunteers work with the Forest Service and other groups to sustain the forests substantial trails system, camping areas, and heritage sites. A keystone LPFA project, the Trail Care Program, works to rebuild existing trails, add new forest access to nearby communities and help resolve trail user conflicts, significantly contributing to the forests sense of place.

KNOWLEDGE & LEARNING
From its exceptional recreational and wilderness values, to its unique geology and geography, rich flora and fauna, and colorful history, there is much to learn about this forest. LPFA provides educational programs, interpretive materials and publications through visitor centers and our website. We even offer family camping programs.

VISITOR ACTIVITIES
LPFA wants visitors to get to know this land personally. We offer a myriad of activities suited to all ages: wildflower hikes, backcountry trips, tours with forest rangers and campfire programs. From the Big Sur Station on famous Hwy 1, to the Wheeler Gorge Visitor Center, our restored landmark off Hwy 33, we greet thousands of fresh faces annually, opening their imaginations to the forests wonders.

ECOLOGICAL STEWARDSHIP
The Los Padres provides many environmental benefits to the surrounding communities: clean water and air, abundant wildlife, open space and solitude. LPFA is developing community-based conservation planning projects. Lets learn together how to be good ecological stewards of this magnificent land that serves us so well.
