overview

San Ramon Chapel

Silhouetted against the sky and varicolored hills, is a little white church with two steeples, a cross atop each, and a third cross gracing the gable over the front entrance doorway. This is the historic Sisquoc Church, along Foxen Canyon, that on April 30, 1967, was dedicated as Santa Barbara County's first historical landmark.

Fall Canyon Hunting Camp

From Mission Pine Basin, you can follow the Fall Canyon creekbed downstream to the north. Often, this is the best route for finding water down the creek but you'll also find the remnants of an old hnting camp there too.

Mission Pine Basin Springs

Though not easy to find, the springs are east of the camp along the route heading to Big Pine and on the north side of the trail. You will need a filter as the source is not a good one.

Fall Canyon Springs

The springs are about 1/2 mile down the old Fall Canyon Trail and are marked on the topo map. As the route is tough to find, this may not be a reliable source of water.

Alamar Saddle

This camp is the site of the old Alamar Guard Station, built in 1937 and razed in the 1960's. "Alamar" means "frog" (ornamental fastening) in Spanish.
